We work closely with UK and International charities to support the positive work that they do.
We have a range of collaboration models where charities are involved as partners in project delivery (e.g. in pilot projects) and we also provide donations and support, through a number of different approaches.
The Turing Trust
For the past few years, Re-Tek have been donating IT equipment to The Turing Trust; a volunteering charity set up in 2009, who aim to provide quality technology and IT training to schools in sub-Saharan Africa. This refurbished IT equipment helps to promote education, provide training opportunities and develop skills in Africa “whilst reducing waste and supporting a more sustainable and environmentally friendly society”… something we also strive to do here at Re-Tek.
Strathcarron Hospice
Strathcarron Hospice is a free palliative care resource, caring for patients with life-limiting conditions. Re-Tek have made a number of donations to the hospice, including a £1,000 cheque (with the help of Falkirk Council and Valpak), and more recently a number of reconditioned iPad’s, which can make a massive difference to a patient’s everyday life.
Some patients find themselves unable to speak as a result of their conditions or treatments, but technology such as this can give them a voice, as they can be used to communicate with both staff and family.
ng2
ng2 is a Social Enterprise company that is a wholly owned subsidiary of ng homes, which maintain a large estate of social housing in North Glasgow. A successful project in 2015 involved collecting ICT product from residents and local businesses. This resulted in a significant financial rebate to ng2 under our income sharing model. The 6-month pilot project resulted in the collection of circa 3,000 items from SMEs across the north of Glasgow. During this project we were able to provide training to support staff to develop skills for the operation of the circular business models, providing valuable work experience and developing employment skillsets.
Social Bite
We are very proud to work closely with Social Bite, a homeless charity with facilities in Glasgow, Edinburgh and Aberdeen. In partnership with Scott-Moncrieff, business advisors and accountants, 100 products were donated with 74 being reused, which resulted in a cash donation and provision of 20 mobile phones for Social Bite to provide to homeless clients. In addition, to support Social Bite’s new digital inclusion program across their five sandwich stores, Re-Tek provided 25 high spec laptops and 4 PCs fully loaded with Operating System and Microsoft Office.
If you are an organisation wishing to donate to a preferred charity or if you are a charity keen to explore potential partnership opportunities, please contact us.
By partnering with Re-Tek for your IT disposal requirements, we can help you use your redundant IT assets to make a difference.
